From 1995 to 2002, I worked as a digital artist for software companies in the Boston area, among them Papyrus Design Group, Turbine Entertainment, and Looking Glass. I moved to New York City in 2002 to pursue an MFA in sculpture, and graduated in 2004. You can see some of my work at www. I started Website for Artists in May of 2006 out of a desire to have a more flexible schedule, offer a great service to the Art community and divide my time between work I enjoy (computer graphics) and work that defines me, fine art.
Services
I have compiled a list of resources for artists to find opportunities, funding for projects, and residencies. I strongly believe in creating a community of artists, where we can help each other, and nurture each other. I have tried to find resources that are open to artists nationally and internationally, regardless of where the organization is based.
Rules of the Road is a series of articles about how artists can use and interact with the Digital World, and how to best navigate that space. Remember when you started taking art classes? You probably came across a teacher who told you to work from the general to the specific. When you paint, you do not start with details. the same advice applies to organizing your computer for your art career.

Disclaimer: My website is hosted by FASO, and I write for their free online art marketing newsletter. I've been extremely satisfied with not just their products, but also their services, in a thousand different ways. But this takes the prize: Late last night, I messed up my site, which ended up with images overlapping images, etc. I submitted a frantic request to the support team for help.
Before I even got up this morning, it was fixed! (Okay, they're a time zone ahead of me, but still.that was AMAZING.) They selected a better template that looks GREAT. That's the hidden value they provide when you trust your online art presence with them. THEY ROCK!

This is THE place to go to create an independent website for your art business. They helped me transfer dozens of art listings from my old site, so I didn't have to start from scratch. The design options are great- I'm so happy with my website, and the support team is responsive and helpful. They also offer a ton of free marketing advice.

I recently started taking my art work seriously and found that FASO was amazing in helping me on this path! In no time a beautiful website was created and I was introduced to a large number of artists. FASO provides a great support not only with the website, but with marketing, inspiration and building a network of other artists and followers through competitions, newsletters, blogs and many other features. I highly recommend FASO to any emerging or established artist.
