I enjoy using my creativity and artistic skill to help others express and promote themselves. For over twenty years I have created offbeat fine art and have provided custom illustration and graphic design services. In addition to providing custom illustration and graphic design services, I also create offbeat fine art. Custom pet portraits are very popular! Original paintings that feature an assortment of animals, crazy characters, mythical monsters and more!
So, you know that I'm a freelance artist for hire, providing custom illustration and graphic design services, and that I also create offbeat fine art, but you want to know more. I was born in the mid-70's and given the name Michael John. My last name is Auger and is pronouced Oh-zhay (rhymes with okay).
JIM'S Inc. is a company that provides many different kinds of home services. I suggested a multi-tasking octopus as a mascot which has been incorporated into all of the company's branding. This is one of many advertisements I designed for the company. These are a few examples of ad designs I created while art director for Eastman Strings to promote their instruments and cases. I also created their logo and took the photography used in these ads.
The dog in this logo represents the many breeds of herding and livestock guardian dogs used throughout the United States and around the world to manage the herd and protect against predators. These dogs are loyal, friendly, tireless in their work, ever-vigilant of potential threats, and aggressive in protecting those in their charge - the perfect symbol for the ASOC, consistent with both its mission and enabling approach to security operations. The slash marks at the base of his neck pay tribute to the familiar green fields of the USDA logo.

What a delight working with Michael. As a musician planning an EP release, I contracted with Michael for an original "Auger" album cover design. I provided a photo and Michael created an out-of-this-world off-beat art version of myself. The artwork for the front and back cover are perfect for the tone of the project. His responsiveness and enthusiasm make him a joy to work with.
He finished his work on-time and cheerfully responded to change requests which must have interrupted his work flow but he didn't complain in the slightest. I will be going back to Michael for future work. His rates are great. He could charge more (but I hope he doesn't).

Michael was fantastic. We recently started a new youth athletic association in the Olney-Sandy Spring Area. We had some ideas and brought them to Michael. He was incredibly fast and helpful. No matter how many times we asked for an adjust or two it was never a problem. We went in wanting just one logo done and ended up doing three. We would definitely recommend Michael and will continue to use him in the future for all our graphic needs.
